What Was Their Prayer?

Since the 2016 engagement of Russell Wilson and Ciara, many have asked the singer what she prayed for to get the relationship of her dreams. After years of being asked, finally in 2019 during an interview she revealed portions of her prayer. She stated, "I prayed for a God-fearing man. I prayed for discernment. I prayed for wisdom, to really learn from the wisdom that I've gained from the experience that I'm going through. I prayed for a man that loved kids, because, obviously me having my son, if you're gonna love me you've got to love him. I prayed for a man that was worldly as well. Because I love to explore so someone that was gonna edify my world, that was important to me" (Ebony, 2019). Ciara has since added to the statement saying that it wasn't just one prayer, but multiple prayers prayed over time. Translation: Don't stop praying! The person of your dreams is out there.

While many of the couple's fans have concentrated on her prayer, many failed to ask Russell what was his prayer before meeting Ciara. His prayer was not revealed until the earlier part of 2020 during a live chat on Instagram with LaLa Anthony. When asked what he prayed for in a mate before meeting Ciara, he stated that his prayer included 5 non-negotiables, 1) must be a woman of faith, 2) must be a woman who is faithful, 3) must be a woman who is independent, 4) must be a woman who will love me like my mother loved my father, 5) must be a woman who will tilt the room. Wow! Translation: I want a woman who is a BOSS!

Both Ciara and Russell have shown us the power of prayer concerning the desires we may have for current or future relationships. Their story gives hope to those who are seeking the right type of relationship in the right timing. These two testimonies regarding prayer for a future mate also lets us know that somewhere, out there, someone is praying for someone exactly like you! Keep praying, trusting and believing.
